MORE than 1,000 people are expected to take part in a walk in Bolton to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
It will be the 18th annual Muslim celebration walk and will start at 1.30pm, on Sunday, January 27, at Makkah Mosque Culture and Community Centre in Grecian Street, Great Lever.
The anniversary is one of the most important days in the Muslim calendar and organisers are expecting people to travel from across the UK to take part in the walk. They will include Bolton councillors and two special guests, Mohammed Riaz, the leader of the Naqsbandia Group in the UK, and Sufi Asgar, the leader of the Bolton Naqsbandia Group.
The celebration will include a peaceful walk around the area, followed by speeches at the mosque and a huge community dinner.
Tassadaq Hussain, one of the organisers, said: “We would love as many people from the local community to come along. We want to make the community aware of the birth of the prophet and also to share our faith with other faiths.”
