THREE people were taken to hospital following a Westhoughton crash.

Two men and a woman were taken to Royal Bolton Hospital following a collision at the junction of Captain Lees Road and Park Road at 1.12pm today (Thursday).

Firefighters freed a man and a woman and a three-month-old baby from a silver Ford Fiesta car after a gold Peugeot 207cc collided with the back of the car. The baby boy was uninjured. The man and woman, the parents of the child suffered spinal injuries. The woman was given morphine at the scene of the crash. The driver of the car, a man, was taken to hospital for checks.

The driver of the Peugeot, a woman, was not seriously injured but was removed from the crash with the aid of a chair.

Road closures were put in place for several hours while the people were cut free from the car by firefighters from Atherton and Hindley. Firefighters were at the scene for more than an hour.
