CRIME in Greater Manchester has fallen by 11 per cent, new figures show.
Home Office statistics released yesterday cover the 12 months between October, 2011, and September, 2012.
The total number of crimes reported was 193,148, including 38,503 violent crimes against a person, 28,597 burglaries and 10,468 drug offences.
Fraud and forgery saw the biggest drop of 31 per cent and robberies dropped by 12 per cent.
The only category which saw an increase was violence against a person, up by two per cent.
Greater Manchester’s Ch Con Sir Peter Fahy said: “The reduction in crime in Greater Manchester is greater than the national figure but there is no question that crime is still too high.”

it just goes unreported, and unrecorded, because victims know absolutely nothing will be done.
There is no such thing as "low-level crime". If you don't have so much as a pot to **** in, a row of smashed in fencing which costs hundreds of pound is high level crime.
If your wheely bin is repeatedly stolen from outside of your house because the local council make you leave it there, you are required to pay for a new one.
Two new one's have cost me £60. Like I say, when you don't have a pot to **** in that's a lot of money -it's high level crime.
Theft and criminal damage are rampant in some areas- just take a look at the streets around you.
