OPERATING on a dog’s leg proved too much for teenager Sam Hassall in the second episode of CBBC’s Junior Vets.
The 13-year-old Bolton School pupil, pictured, had to leave the operating theatre after he started to feel queasy. But the youngster managed to go back in time to see the end of the operation, on Stella, a Labrador-cross who had been run over by a car.
Sam, from Heaton, is one of six schoolchildren chosen to star in the show and compete to win the title of Head Vet. They were chosen from more than 1,000 applicants to become the first juniors to enrol at Edinburgh University’s Vet School.
While Sam was in the operating theatre, his competitors were at the races looking after horses, and at a sheep farm tending to a lame sheep.
Sam said: “That was the first operation and I was really, really looking forward to it, but I just started to feel really weird and fainty.”
The next episode will be on CBBC at 5.45pm on Monday.
