A CHEF will be serving up a feast at Westhoughton Market tomorrow.

Market traders have lined up successful local chef Nick Cullen, the owner of Nick’s Restaurant at Chequerbent in Westhoughton, and Chorley Old Road, to perform a free cookery demonstration.

Mr Cullen will be cooking two dishes at 10.30am at the market, in Market Street.

He will be using fresh, local produce sourced from Westhoughton and Bolton markets.

The demo has been organised to tie in with the popular monthly local produce market, which takes place from 10am to 4pm alongside the general market.

Traders taking part this month include artisan chocolatiers Urban Chocolate, Reedy’s Naturally who produce chutneys and jams, and fresh meat and sausage specialist Savin Hall Farm.

Jean Coban, who runs the Jack the Lad Menswear and Lady’s Lingerie stalls, added: “All the traders are proactive in coming up with new ideas and events to keep the local produce market and the general market going.”

The market was awarded the Best Small Indoor Market of the year in 2012 ,by the National Association of British Market Authorities and won the Best of Bolton category in the Bolton and Bury Business Awards.

Westhoughton Market is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm and Thursdays until 7pm.

A local produce market is held on the first Saturday of every month.
