Wind turbine plan deferred

First published in

PLANS to build a wind turbine at Douglas Valley Golf Club, near the Blackrod bypass, have been deferred by Bolton Council’s planning committee.

The plans had been recommended for approval subject to conditions, but at yesterday’s meeting they were deferred for further information. The main structure of the wind turbine would be 30ft high, but would reach 45ft when its blades are fully extended upwards.

Proposals for a twin-bladed turbine of the same size at the site, which is on protected green belt land, were thrown out by the council ’s planning committee in March.

The decision was appealed but this was thrown out in October by government planning inspector George Baird. The new turbine is 260 metres away from the previous site and 15 metres lower than previously proposed.
