AN application to extend the time allowed to build a new golf club house and 13 homes by three years has been approved by councillors.

Outline plans for a huge regeneration of Bolton Old Links Golf Club, in Chorley Old Road, Bolton, were approved by Bolton Council in 2009.

The planning committee agreed to let the applicant have an additional three years to complete them.

The plans will see the construction of a new three-storey club house and 86-space car park on land next to the existing car park.

The old club house and the outbuildings would be demolished and 13 homes built on the site, including the Grade II listed Horrobin Cottage, which is located behind the existing club house.

Two rows of four mews houses and five detached homes with private gardens and garages would be built on the site.
