A DRUG dealer’s attempts to grow cannabis were so poor that the plants found at his home were unlikely to produce any usable crop, a court heard.

Bolton Crown Court heard how, in February last year, officers from the police Tactical Aid Unit raided Stephen Cleminshaw’s home in Bank Street, Radcliffe.

Lisi Ke, prosecuting, told how they found two medium plants and a number of cuttings growing in a bedroom, but lack of light meant they were in poor condition.

However, they also found a carrier bag full of dried cannabis leaves and more of the plant in bags and in a tin in the kitchen.

There was also a tin containing a mixture of cannabis and cocaine powder, a set of scales, a large number of snap bags and a debtors’ list of names and telephone numbers.

Altogether, police found £280 cash and the drugs were valued at up to approximately £900.

Cleminshaw, aged 28, pleaded guilty to producing cannabis, possession with intent to supply cannabis and possessing cocaine.

Recorder Howard Bentham QC sentenced Cleminshaw to five months in prison, suspended for two years, and ordered that he take part in a New Direction Activity Requirement course.

A proceeds of crime hearing will be held on April 5.
