ENTRIES are now open for St Ann’s Hospice’s annual Manchester Midnight Walk.

It is the seventh time the hospice in Little Hulton has staged the event and over the years it has raised more than £1.2 million.

Last year, almost 2,800 walkers took part and raised more than £220,000 for the charity.

The 10k event, which will take place on June 21, starts at Manchester Central and goes past Manchester Cathedral, Granada Studios, Castlefield and Manchester University.

Jayne Bessant, hospice chief executive, said: “Last year was one of our best on record in terms of the number of participants, emphasising the huge amount of support for St Ann’s Hospice from within the community.

“We rely heavily on donations from the public to provide our range of services so the money raised from this flagship fundraising event means so much to the running of the hospice.

“Above all, it’s a fun night and we’d like as many people as possible to join us again this year, whether it’s groups of friends or families.”
