AN artificial Christmas tree, a phone handset and a men at work sign were among the items found by a group of volunteers sprucing up Westhoughton Railway Station.
Friends of Westhoughton Station, a group of volunteers, was founded last year to maintain the station, off Church Street and about 20 people in the group were involved in a clean-up of the station on Sunday.
Members filled bags and bins with bottles and cans, while they found other items in the undergrowth.
The group does clean-up work twice a month, on the first and third Sunday of each month, but it is later expected to go back to once per month.
Volunteers are still wanted. Anyone who can help can e-mail friendsof westhoughtonstation@ yahoo.co.uk
