YOUNGSTERS took a leap into the world of university at a creative writing workshop — about superheroes.
Pupils from Kearsley Academy attended the Comic SMART at Manchester Metropolitan University.
It was led by Rachel Webb, a post-graduate library management student, who used aspects of the superhero genre to engage the pupils and encourage them to develop their writing skills. Teacher Anseela Ali said: “The students have thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They’re all very excited about the prospect of creating their own superhero and are already discussing ideas for stories. I think using superheroes in this way has certainly helped to ignite the pupils’ interest, which is always a challenge, and I’m very pleased with the results.”
