Pub handbag thief sentenced

A THIEF who stole a handbag from the bar area of the Star and Garter pub in Bolton town centre on October 26 last year, has been given a conditional discharge for 12 months by Bolton magistrates.

Terence Howarth, aged 24, of Dovedale Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to taking the bag, purse, cash and cigarettes, together worth £100.

He was also ordered to pay £45 compensation and £80 prosecution costs.

Perhaps theft is the reason for all the police call outs at town centre pubs?.If there is no penalty for these thefts then more call outs are to be expected.
It seems odd the police haven't realised this.
