Amir Khan weights in to back our search for stars

BOLTON’S boxing superstar Amir Khan is packing a punch in our search to find the town’s most deserving youngsters.
Crompton Place Shopping Centre has joined forces with The Bolton News to find Bolton’s Young Wonders and Amir has added his voice to the search.
The overall winner will receive a bumper stack of prizes from retailers at the shopping centre.
The former light welterweight champion, who is at a San Francisco training camp ahead of his upcoming spring contest with likely opponent Julio Diaz, said: “Young people can sometimes get a bad press and I think that is a great shame because I believe it is important to encourage and look out for the younger generation and hopefully set a good example to them. There’s bags of talent among the youngsters of Bolton and I feel sure there will be some very worthy nominees, so I would urge people to get thinking about who deserves a mention.”
Amir has joined Bolton Wanderers player Stuart Holden to encourage people to get their entries in and think about the young people in their communities who deserve special recognition.
Shortlisted youngsters picked by the judges will be featured at regular intervals in The Bolton News, with a final overall winner announced later in the year.
Crompton Place manager, Malcolm Angus, said: “It may be that the young person you know raises money for charity on a regular basis or volunteers to help people.
“Perhaps they play an active part in their church or youth centre. Or maybe they are a rising sports star dedicated to their training.”
