Stars put on their dancing shoes for major fundraiser

FAMOUS faces are taking part in a charity dancing blockbuster tonight.

Harwood resident and former Manchester United footballer, Gary Neville, and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips, from Prestwich, will be on the judging panel at the inaugural Dancing With United event.

Celebrities taking part in the dance spectacular, in aid of the Manchester United Foundation, include Bury actress Lisa Riley, Coronation Street actor Antony Cotton, also from Bury, and former Bolton Wanderers player Fabrice Muamba. Lisa said: “Taking on the challenge of learning to dance has been amazing for me so I’m really thrilled to be taking part in this event, which will be a brilliant night whilst raising lots of money for a fantastic charity. ”

All proceeds will go to the Manchester United Foundation, which gives football coaching and skills training to young people in disadvantaged areas.

Tickets cost from £150. For more information or to book, call James Lester on 0161 8688444 or e mail james.lester@mufoundation.org.

I thought the headline read 'Stars', but having read this list, I fail to see any! Or is the idea of stars in the eyes of the BN a group of nobodies, who are only famous in their own minds and those of a few telly addicts who have nothing better to do?

Another non-story, par for the course.

Footballer is a star? Do me a favour, he kicks a ball around a field for obscene wages, nothing more. It would be much better if the money was given to feed and educate these children, and at an inflated £150 a throw, that would buy a lot of happiness. I fail to see what teaching them to kick a football will do for their poverty or lack of decent education. Just another night out for the boys, by the sound of it. Is ALL this money going to the children, or is a percentage going to be deducted for 'expences'? Oh, and bye the way, my idea of a star is someone who is recognised as being a long-performing entertainer of some ability, such as Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster, Martin Scorcese, Mark NCIS and the like, not some soap opera nobody or Saturday afternoon prima donna.
