Five injured in crash in Stoneclough Road

A MAN is in a critical condition and two women are in hospital after a head-on car crash in Ringley.

Five people, including two children, were injured in the two-car crash, which happened at 8pm, on Thursday, March 14, in Stoneclough Road.

Firefighters from Bolton Central and Farnworth attended the scene and cut the two women from a Ford Galaxy.

It is believed the Ford Galaxy crashed head-on into a BMW travelling in the opposite direction.

The women, aged in their 40s and 60s who were travelling in the Ford Galaxy, were both taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital with leg and back injuries.

The two children, aged 12 and nine, who were also in the Ford Galaxy, were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The 32-year-old male driver of the BMW was taken to the Salford Royal Hospital with head, back and leg injuries and is in a critical condition.

Police are investigating the incident .

My wife went to a council meeting to ask about speed control in Ringley. (Ringley Road, Market Street & Stoneclough Road is one road) When i have stuck the 30mph cars have overtaken me. Cars are travelling at 60+ mph on this road. We need speed cameras here asap. This is the fifth accident in two weeks we are seeing several accidents per month, on Saturday someone drove into the large sign only 100 feet from thsi accident. It is only going to egt worse getting. We have feared someone is going to be killed. It should be 30mph all along the road no 40 mph but we still need cameras to slow down the racers. Council please act now, forget the budgets and stats on average speeds. Yes most people are usinig the road well but a godo percentage are going well above the speed limit. I was talking to a PC at the scene and a car pulled up at speed, pbviouly going so fast he didnt see the numerous flshing light, bollard and police cars, he was going too fast to react.

PS. Council notes say there has been no accidents since 2004? What????

Oh and the bus stop and fence was wiped out recently, amazing how quick the new fence and bus stop went up. What would have happended if there was a dozen school children stood there at the time?

Slow Down...... Council, slow them down.

Our friend was sat in her car a week ago on Ringley Raod and car drove into the rear of her car, she had to be cut out of the car. The police it seems have told the Council the they have attended too many incidents here and speed control is needed.!!

Or the two women could have been discussing last nights TV or where they're going on holiday and completely forgot they were driving ?

You sound a bit dumb boyo and if like the article says the Galaxy crashed into the BMW I think the woman driving should have thought more about her kids and concentrated on her driving. we dont know the full story I'm just answering you.

Why would anyone have a problem with speed cameras? If you don't speed then you won't get caught. It's not like they go off at 31 mph. Most 30mph limit cameras are set to at least 35mph or even 40 mph.

If you obey the law, you won't ever have a problem with them.

Speed cameras when used in the correct locations can save lives.

Speed in built up areas is a real problem the average speed of people in 30 zones tends to be about 40mph these days. The roads where this incident took place are not very wide and there are potential multiple hazards all along it none more so than the turn off to Prestolee, at times this is so bad it should merit traffic signals.

To get your story straight before publishing it. I am a witness of the accident. The uninsured driver of the STOLEN Bmw was speeding, overtook a car and lost control. He then hit the Galaxy head on which has affected the lives of 4 innocent victims. The two front mother and daughter now need majour surgery to repair broken bones. One of the grandaughters did break bones so the idiotic Bmw driver has ruined the lives of the four people in the Galaxy their familiy and friends.
We wish all of the people in the Galaxy a speedy recovery
