Family of eight escape dawn bedroom blaze

A FAMILY of eight escaped a house blaze after an electric heater went up in flames.

The front bedroom was “well alight” when fire crews arrived at the property in Ramsay Avenue, New Bury at 4:09am on Saturday.

The parents, their four children and two uncles managed to evacuate the semi-detached house before fire fighters arrived.

One of the uncles, aged 58, was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital, as were all of the children, for a precautionary check up. None were thought to be injured.

The family have since been re-housed by the Red Cross.

The front bedroom was destroyed and there was smoke damage to the upstairs of the house.

Firefighters from Farnworth managed to prevent the blaze from spreading to the house next door.

"The parents, their four children and two uncles"

An odd set up if you ask me.

No one did ask you. What on earth has this families living situation got to do with you? As long as they are ok that is all that matters. The last thing they need is snide comments from the likes of idiots like you.

This house has had conversions, the uncles have health conditions that prevent them living on their, and while you not rites would put ur family in care homes this family hasn't, and further more they own there own house, not a scum bag council tennent, they work not on benefits. the reporter was told to leave and not publish a story and has all the information wrong, no1 attended hospital. ...good, so where's their house insurer in all of this? Surely they should have to sort them out?

As it happened this morning, they still may have to contact their insurance company (hopefully they have it). After all I'm sure it's not the most important thing to think about straight away, it's the family they will be thinking off that was in the house and making sure everyone was ok. Hope they get back on their feet soon. And that the Red Cross helped them find some accommodation until they can move back home.

Thankyou, yes the red cross did help them as it was 4am and the last thing you would be doing while your house is burning down is searching for an insurance number. The red cross came with drinks and shelter and some very important telephone numbers so everything can be put in place, this article should never have been printed as nobody spoke to any of the family affected, insurance or not, this is devastating enough without people presuming things, I'm glad they don't have friends like some of the judgemental people that have commented!

Sadly this is a very common phenomenon on here. People hiding behind their keyboards spouting ill judged presumptions without full knowledge of what the circumstances are. So what if the family have two uncles living with them? What is that to do with anyone except for the family? Just because some people do not fit into a pre-conceived idea of what a family unit should consist of it does not mean it is wrong. How utterly ignorant to hide in the shadows scoffing about something you think you know something about. I hope this unfortunate family are all safe and well and that they ALL manage to return to their home without much inconvenience.

and I am saddened how the use of obscenities is allowed to go unchecked by the watchdog we all know and love, known as the Bolton News. It has come to something when words such as these where only spoken between blokes in a pub over a pint and hardly ever in front of a lady. Or at least that is how it used to be where I was brought up. Seems decency amongst adults has been over ridden by the low-life language of several posters on these pages.

". It's devastating enough without you fukwits talking ****... Have you ever heard of house conversations? " The irony of this comment is EPIC, it really is. All credit to the Bolton News for allowing the barely-literate a place to "speak" for themselves, a place of safety to invent new words and phrases and test them on readers who bothered to go to school. I'm pleased "every1 are okay" but bemused that "the reporter was told to leave" - I presume the reporter in question had that weird accent (the one called Educated) and was completely baffled by the pre-Neolithic speak belched at him no-doubt politely requesting he move on. I suggest he (or she) could be wholly forgiven for not grasping the intent of the Ork-like squawkings. Perhaps the houses could have taken a break from their "conversations" to explain the situation to him; I'm almost certain bricks and mortar could have done a better job!

Obviously the writer of this post left school before completing their full educational course, another thing, this person seems to be able to emit s--te from both ends of the Alimentary Canal.
whilst I have every sympathy for the family involved in such a distressing situation, this person, having a limited vocabulary, feels the need to litter these utterances wih expletives......I bet the very people you are trying speak up for are are cringing at the thought.

I wonder why attempts were made to usher away and censor the reporter? Was this family trying to hide something? I'm sure they informed their insurance company that they had two other occupants in residence; particularly since they were occupants with possibly dangerous incapacities? Surely eight people living in a normal family semi can only increase the risk for insurance companies?

Turning the sofa into a place to sleep does not define a "conversion"

No one has the facts on here, but come on this is Ramsey avenue......

I lived of there for 17 years, it was/is one of the worst streets in Farnworth, where your social standing is entirely built around how big a trampoline you can get in you front lawn (lawn is actually a patch of mud/grass/crazy paving)

Glad none was hurt, which is the main thing....
