Help shape future of Octagon

BOLTON’S Octagon Theatre is inviting people to give their views on its upcoming refurbishment.
A consultation event will be held today about the work which will take place after a grant of £384,799 from the Arts Council.
The money will go towards modernising the stage equipment and improving the cafe, toilets and bar. Today’s workshop will start at 10am
and finish at 1pm and theatre staff are looking for people to attend who would like to share their thoughts on the plans.
The event will be interactive and people will be encouraged to share ideas and feedback as well as get creative with how the new Octagon makeover could look.
To book a place email helen.jones@octagonbolton.co.uk or
call 01204 556505. Another £100,000 needs to be raised to complete all the work, including essential maintenance in the auditorium.
If you are interested in helping to raise the money to complete this essential work, visit octagonbolton.co.uk/ fundraising-appeal-2013, call 01204 520661 or visit the Octagon Ticket Office to make a donation.

I have to say the Octagon is a great theatre - very well designed, far superior to the Lowry and on a par with the Keswick theatre by the lake. There is a danger that too much change could detract from the atmosphere created by the design which ensures an intimacy unsurpassed in any theatre I've visited.
