TWO men have been sentenced for possessing drugs with a street value of £13,000.

David Goldsmith, aged 28, of Chorley New Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin, cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply at Bolton Crown Court and was jailed for three years today.

Lyndon Arthur, aged 21, of Adrian Street, Manchester, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply at an earlier hearing and was given a nine-month jail sentence, suspended for two years.

On Wednesday, November 23, 2011, police raided a house in Holmes Street, Great Lever, where they found a sports bag with bags of cannabis inside as well as a newspaper that contained wraps of cocaine and heroin.

As the search continued, two officers were outside the address when they noticed a blue Hyundai car pull up.

Goldsmith got out and walked to the front door when he realised police were inside. He walked off but was stopped by police and arrested.

Following forensic examinations, Arthur’s finger prints were found on snap bags and he was also later arrested.

PC Jamie Winrow from the police's drugs unit said: “Thanks to information we received from the public we were able to conduct this warrant and arrest both Goldsmith and Arthur.

“Drugs are the scourge of our community and the damage they can cause can tear families apart. Thankfully, justice has been served.

“I would ask anyone who may know where drugs are being produced or sold, to contact police."
