THE countdown has begun for Bolton Hospice’s Midnight Memories Walk.

Specsavers has been announced as the official sponsor of the annual fundraising events.

Not only will the firm be sponsoring the walk, a team of staff will be joining in.

Laura Ogg, assistant manager at Specsavers in Victoria Square, said: “Specsavers are very proud to sponsors the Midnight Memories Walk and we all look forward to joining them on the night to raise money for such a great cause.”

Midnight Memories will take place on June 15.

It starts from Victoria Square, along Chorley New Road to just before the Beehive roundabout.

Walkers then walk back down on the opposite of the road and back to the Town Hall for a well deserved bacon buttie and cuppa.

Head of events at Bolton Hospice, Maria Passarello, said: “This yearly event enables Bolton Hospice to provide free expert palliative care for people in Bolton who face life-limiting illnesses. The eight mile walk means as a community we can share our love, loss and hope but also gain a wonderful sense of achievement while raising money to support Bolton Hospice.

“We still need more people to register and join us for a memorable evening and to help us to raise vital funds.”

People taking part are welcome from 8pm with entertainment and a party atmosphere.

As a supporter of Bolton Hospice all walkers receive a commemorative T-shirt and bib, which can be personalised, glow sticks to light the way and once finished participants will receive a medal to remind them of their contribution to the work of the hospice.

To register visit the hospice’s website boltonhospice.org.uk and pay the registration fee of £15 to receive a sponsorship pack through the post.

Last year the 1,700 walkers raised more than £135,000 which helped to pay for vital services, such as in and out patients clinics, therapy services and carers supports to name a few.
