A LOVER has been cleared of telling his girlfriend to make up a rape allegation against the man she had been unfaithful with.
Husen Patel, aged 23, was found not guilty of perverting the course at Bolton Crown Court this afternoon.
The rape claim was made by Patel’s girlfriend, Jade Leech, after he found out she had been unfaithful with Mr Khan, her cousin’s boyfriend, the court was told.
It was claimed Patel, of Mancroft Avenue, Daubhill, told Miss Joint he was using Miss Leech to get Mr Khan in trouble, but the claims were dismissed by the jury of six men and six women today.
Four months after being interviewed by police, Ms Leech, aged 21, from Blackrod, confessed to police she had made up the rape allegation.
She has pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice and is due to be sentenced at a later date.
