A THUG has been warned he could be jailed after he beat a cat to death in a car park.
Christopher Woodall was seen covered in blood after he attacked the cat.
Butane gas addict, Woodall, of Ainsworth Road, Bolton, launched the brutal assault on the cat at about 9am on Sunday.
At Manchester Magistrates Court, prosecutor Matthew Siddall said the cat was found in a “very sorry state”.
Mr Siddall said: “The cat’s collar was wrapped round its hind legs and a coin had been placed on its head.”
Woodall’s crime was discovered when witnesses heard the sound of “screeching and a man shouting” in a car park.
Afterwards Woodall was seen with a butane canister near his mouth, the court heard.
Mr Siddall added: “He is a butane addict and this is the catalyst for his offending.”
Woodall pleaded guilty to causing the cat unnecessary suffering. He was remanded in custody for sentence on July 16.
District Judge James Clarke warned him that the level of mistreatment that caused the cat’s death could result in a prison sentence.
Woodall had earlier claimed he had launched the vicious attack because the cat attacked him.
