A FORMER Royal Bolton Hospital doctor will face allegations that he was sexually motivated to contact patients.

Dr Muhammad Ghani Imran, who was employed as a speciality doctor in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Farnworth-based hospital, will face a fitness to practise hearing before a panel at Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in Manchester later this month.

It is alleged that while he was employed at the hospital between August, 2010, and April last year he managed his time inadequately, failed to follow the instructions of consultants, failed to provide adequate support for colleagues and refused to see a patient when requested to do so.

It is also claimed he inappropriately contacted patients via telephone and was sexually motivated to do so.

The hearing will start on Tuesday, August 27 and will last until Monday, September 16.

Dr Imran is subject to a series of conditions where he must inform the General Medical Council of any jobs he accepts and must only contact patients outside of a hospital setting if authorised to do so.

A spokesman for the Royal Bolton Hospital said: “Dr Imran worked with us between August 4, 2010 and April 23, 2012.

“As soon as concerns were raised, an investigation was commissioned, the outcome of which was termination of contract.”
