A MAN told a jury he punched another man, but did not commit a robbery.
Bill Carney, aged 20, said he was not responsible for a robbery which is alleged to have happened in Stanworth Drive, Breightmet, on March 25.
Carney said he punched Stephen Blackburn due to a previous incident where the alleged victim was said to have shouted at the defendant and his girlfriend when they were getting into an ambulance, Bolton Crown Court heard.
The jury heard when Carney was arrested he denied punching Mr Blackburn because he believed the police would accuse him of robbery.
The jury is considering its verdict.
