Farnworth hit-and-run girl 'making progress'
A TEENAGE girl who was critically injured in a hit-and-run incident is showing signs of improvement in hospital.
18-year-old Christine Ward was left fighting for her life after being struck down by a white van in Anchor Lane, Farnworth in July.
At the time she was in a critical condition and was being treated for a bleed to the brain and a suspected fractured pelvis.
A police spokesperson confirmed that she is now “no longer in a life threatening condition” and is “showing signs of improvement.”
The spokesperson also confirmed that she did suffer a broken left side of the pelvis.
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.
He has been bailed until August 26 pending further inquiries.
