Information wanted following death of Breightmet man
THE last movements of a Bolton man found dead in a river are being traced by police.
The body of Patrick Martin, aged 55, was found in the River Irwell near Trinity Bridge Way at 10.45pm last night (Wednesday).
His death is not being treated as suspicious but police are trying to establish the circumstances leading up to his death.
Mr Martin was last seen at his home in Sichester Way, ,Breightmet on Monday at around 8.30am.
He is described as being white, 5ft 4ins tall, of a heavy build with short grey hair and blue eyes. He was wearing black trousers, a black jacket and a white t-shirt when he was last seen.
Anyone who recognises the description and has information that might be of relevance are being urged to contact police.
Det Sgt Del Schofield, said: “Patrick’s family are obviously deeply upset and keen to know what happened to him and why.
“While we cannot answer these questions at the current time, we will hopefully be able to do so with some help from the public.
“I want to hear from any friends or acquaintances of Patrick’s who may have seen him or spoken to him between Monday morning and Wednesday night.
“I would also urge anyone who may have been in the area where he was found and remembers seeing someone matching his description at any point between these times to call us.”
