BOLTON’S three MPs are remaining cautious over intervention in the Syrian civil war, but only one of them will be at today’s emergency House of Commons debate on the conflict.

Prime Minister David Cameron has recalled Parliament early from its summer recess following the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian regime.

Bolton West’s Julie Hilling is currently in the country and will be attending, but Bolton North East MP David Crausby is away on a family holiday, while Bolton South East’s Yasmin Qureshi is with a Parliamentary delegation in Pakistan.

Ms Hilling, pictured, said: “We don’t know what the motion is going to be, I want to go and listen to the debate. Clearly we have a very difficult situation and it’s hard to see what action we can take that will stop the deaths of innocent civilians.”

Mr Crausby said: “I am instinctively against a war with Syria but deplore the use of chemical weapons, if that can be proven.

“We should take no military action without a UN resolution which seems unlikely considering Russia’s position.”

Ms Qureshi said: “I hope that the United Nations will be allowed to carry out inspections and I want to see the UK government seek support from our allies at the UN Security Council before any intervention.”
