Mobile health check bus comes to Bolton
BOLTON shoppers jumped aboard the health check bus to see if they were in tip-top condition.
Bolton Council, the borough’s public health team and NHS Greater Manchester organised the free community health check day to promote healthy lifestyles and help people to stop smoking.
The bus, a mobile clinic, offered a range of free NHS services, including a stop smoking clinic.
Health checks were also given out by health trainers to help to identify any signs of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
Linda Thomas, deputy leader of the council, jumped aboard the bus with fellow councillors to have her health checked. Cllr Thomas said: “It was an excellent day and there were a lot of people showing an interest and having their health checked.
“The location in Victoria Square meant there was a real cross-section of people from the community stopping by. The trainers were brilliant with people who were perhaps a bit nervous about having their health checked.”
