Amir Khan's Deane banqueting hall plan worth £5 million, boxer says
AMIR KHAN’s plans for a new luxury banquet suite and function hall on a plot of wasteland in Deane will cost the boxer in the region of £5 million, it has emerged.
The ex-WBA and IBF light welterweight champion has earmarked a site in Washington Street, off Deane Road, for the stunning three-floor development, which goes before Bolton Council’s planning committee on September 12.
Initial construction estimates suggested the proposals would cost about £1.6m, but the futuristic design, top quality materials and state-of-the-art features will actually be the result of a £5 million spend from Amir, according to his office.
“The stunning new building will be modern, futuristic and will be a breath of fresh air for Bolton,” said a spokesman from Amir Khan’s office.
The application, submitted under the name of his father, Shah, contains plans for a function hall, restaurant, banqueting suite, VIP restaurant and roof terrace.
Council planning officers have recommended approval for the plans, describing it as a piece of “high-quality regeneration”.
