Two injured in Tonge Moor crash
A WOMAN had to be cut free from her car after a crash which brought Tonge Moor Road to a halt yesterday afternoon.
The collision, involving a Ford Fiesta Zetec and a BMW, happened just after 1pm.
Firefighters said they cut one woman out of her car “as a precaution”, because she had a pre-existing back condition.
She had been complaining of pains in her neck and was taken to hospital for checks.
Nobody was seriously injured in the crash, which led to Tonge Moor Road being shut for about an hour-and-a-half.
It was closed in both directions between Matalan and the junction with Thicketford Road just after 1pm, and was reopened at 2.30pm.
Police said they were treating the incident as an accident.
