New website to help jobless in Bolton
A NEW website aimed at helping Bolton people find jobs has been launched.
The site — which can be found at Bolton.gov.uk/jobsandskills — will keep jobseekers updated about employment opportunities.
There will also be directions to training courses and help for people who are looking to improve their skills.
The website has been created by Team Bolton — a partnership of local organisations which are delivering Bolton’s Skills Strategy.
The team consists of Bolton Council, Job Centre Plus, Work Programme providers, Bolton at Home and the Probation Service.
Education services, such as Bolton College and the University of Bolton are also part of the partnership.
Deputy leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Linda Thomas, said: “The aim of the Team Bolton partnership approach is to work with local employers and residents to improve their skills and qualifications, and ultimately provide more jobs in the future.
“The new website pulls together all the different information that is already out there and also signposts to local support. Having all the information in one place will hopefully make it easier for people who are unsure of what their options are, and it will also allow employers the opportunity to find out how Team Bolton can help them.”
Strategic lead for the Skills Strategy and Principal of Bolton College, Marie Gilluley, added: “The website is a great example of Team Bolton partners working together to improve the skills and employment opportunities of local people.
“We look forward to hearing residents and businesses’ feedback about the site.”
This is the first stage of the website and feedback on how to improve it can be submitted on the site.
