Shopping for traders at new-look market...
THE deadline for traders to apply for a place at the newly developed town centre market is fast approaching — and Bolton Council is looking for more than just food stalls.
The £4.5 million redevelop-ment of Bolton Market is almost complete and “high quality traders” are now needed to be part of the refurbished East Hall. It will house home and lifestyle goods, as well as a food court area.
The multi-functional shop units will accommodate a range of product lines and the council wants to build on the market’s growing reputation for high quality food.
As well as food, the council is looking for stalls selling the likes of technology, home and garden, baby and nursery, toys, sports and leisure, health and beauty, branded clothing, gifts, jewellery and watches.
Bolton Market first opened in the 1930s and is one of Britain’s oldest food markets.
Earlier this year it was showcased on BBC’s Inside Out for a project which encourages people to eat healthily.
Cllr Nick Peel, executive cabinet member for Environ-mental Services, said: “We have a very successful market, which once the refurbishment is complete will be even better.
“We’re now seeking high quality traders to diversify our non-food products range, as well as building on our unique and diverse food stalls which we’re well known for. We want to get the balance right for the customer and new products will, hopefully, attract new visitors. This is an exciting opportunity for a small business to showcase their product and I’d encourage any traders who are interested to get in touch.”
Applications, which must be received by this Friday, can be downloaded from bolton.gov.
