Trial date for murder accused

A DATE has been set for the trial of a man accused of robbing and murdering a Bolton pensioner.
Daniel Crompton, aged 24, of no fixed address appeared at Manchester Crown Court via a video link yesterday.
His trial, which is expected to last up to five days, is due to start on March 4 next year and, in the meantime he was remanded in custody.
Crompton is accused of murdering 87-year-old Frank Worsley and robbing him at his home in Longfield Road Daubhill on August 3.
Widower Mr Worsley suffered a stroke and bleed to his brain when he was attacked at 12.40am and died in hospital on August 20.
Crompton is also charged with burgling another house on St Helen’s Road, Bolton between August 2 and 3.
