LEON Best has been handed the chance to revive his Blackburn Rovers career after saying sorry for criticising his manager’s team selection in public.

The striker will be thrown straight back into the squad for tomorrow’s visit of Huddersfield Town to Ewood Park following his apology to Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.

Best was dropped for the trips to Burnley and Leicester after revealing on social networking site Instagram that he told Bowyer he had picked the wrong side for the defeat at Doncaster last month.

But a remorseful Best has been welcomed back into the fold and advised to take any remaining frustration out on the opposition – starting with the Terriers tomorrow.

Bowyer said: “It’s been dealt with internally.

“Leon has apologised to the staff and to the players for the comments.

“We’re all mature enough to forgive and forget and get on with it and that’s what we’ve done.

“Besty had a tough year with his injury and he was frustrated because he wanted to play.

“Now, if he gets his opportunity, he should go and take his frustration out on Huddersfield.”

Bowyer has been able to name only one striker –six-goal top-scorer Jordan Rhodes – in his squads for the last two games.

With Best available for selection and DJ Campbell very close to returning from an ankle injury, the Ewood chief will soon have the luxury of three forwards to choose from.

But that will not prevent Bowyer from continuing his search for another attacker – either on loan or a free agent.

He said: “If the right person becomes available we’ve got to be ready for that.

“You hear Harry Redknapp saying he’s in the hunt for a striker – everybody is but they are not two a penny any more.

“We’re working tirelessly, looking at players, looking at squads and dealing with agents.

“We’re no different to any club. It’s a hard slog and hard work but it’s something we won’t give up on.”

It emerged earlier this week that Venky’s London Limited – the holding company behind Rovers – has posted a £27m loss for the financial year.

Owners Venky’s have insisted they will continue to back the club and Bowyer is going about his job as usual.

He said: “I’m not a financial expert and I’m sure the owners will inform me as and when I need to be told anything as such.

“I’m not part of those discussions, we just have to keep going about our business and concentrate on what we can control.”

Bowyer confirmed Lee Williamson will return to the squad for tomorrow’s clash with Huddersfield after the midfielder served a one-match ban incurred for his sending off against Burnley.
