Gamers queue outside Game in Bolton for release of FIFA 14
DOZENS of gamers queued to buy the much-anticipated FIFA 14, with Bolton Wanderers mascot Lofty the Lion making a special appearance at Bolton’s Game store.
The game was released at midnight on Thursday with gamers eager to be the first to get copies.
The store converted part of the shop into a football pitch with astroturf and goals for the launch event. Game manager Elliot Jones, aged 29, said: “There’s always the same buzz with FIFA, it’s been a really good atmosphere.
“The difference between this and other FIFAs in terms of graphics, player movement and player intelligence is amazing.”
Mr Jones added that the store expects to make up to £50,000 from sales of the game. Those who turned up to buy the game said they were itching to get started.
Dale McGreavy, aged 19, from Tonge Moor, said: “The graphics are supposed to be much better, the gameplay looks more fluent.
“Everyone’s coming to mine tonight to play FIFA.
“It’ll be great to have FIFA nights with the boys again.”
As well as being available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, FIFA 14 will be available on the next-generation systems PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Daniel Lunn, aged 23, a superviser from Bolton, said: “I can’t wait to try it on PS4, the sharpness of the graphics look absolutely incredible. I’m always competitive on it, so I’ll play FIFA with every chance I get.”
