A MAJOR supermarket is set to expand its operation with the opening of a petrol station in the town centre.
Excavation is already under way in the 16-week project to build the petrol station at Morrisons, in Blackhorse Street.
The new facility is set to provide an additional 10 part-time and full-time jobs.
The plan which was approved by Bolton Council, in August, will include six fuel pumps, a forecourt, the installation of underground fuel tanks, car wash, jet wash, an LPG facility and an extension to the existing supermarket car park together with the provision of four coach parking spaces.
Morrisons has one other fuel station in Bolton at Atlas Mills, Mornington Road.
A spokesman for Morrisons said: “We still have to complete some paperwork on the purchase of the land from Bolton Council but we hope to be on site within two to three weeks and the fuel station hopefully, will be open in the new year.”
