Octagon Theatre's poster design competition for Robin Hood play
CHRISTMAS could come early for two budding young artists in Bolton.
The Octagon Theatre is inviting youngsters to design a poster for its festive production of Robin Hood, which runs from Friday, November 15 to Saturday, January 11.
The lucky winners will receive tickets to see the show, a chance to meet the cast and will have their artwork printed professionally and displayed in the theatre.
The competition is open to two age groups — five to 10 and 11 to 15 and a winner will be selected from each group.
Anna Babilinski, competition organiser, said: “We want you to let your imagination run wild and create your own poster to promote the show.
“It can be a poster of Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest with his friends Maid Marian, Friar Tuck and his Merry Men or of him getting the better of the cruel Sheriff of Nottingham — it’s entirely up to you.
“We’re looking for entries to be bright, colourful and eye-catching. We wish everyone the best of luck.”
The winners will be picked by a panel from the Octagon Theatre, including associate director and director of Robin Hood, Elizabeth Newman, and Marc Small, who will play Robin Hood.
Together with Maid Marion, Friar Tuck and a host of Merry Men, Robin Hood will bring the tales of Sherwood Forest to life — a world of heroic quests, love, gallantry, outlaws, castles and kings.
The theatre will be transformed into a festive hideaway, home to merriment, daring deeds and unexpected delights, with original music performed live by talented actor-musicians and a cast of local young performers.
Send your posters along with your name, age, email address and telephone number to Communications Department, Octagon Theatre, Howell Croft South, Bolton, BL1 1SB or drop them off at the box office.
One entry per person, the deadline is 5pm on Friday, November 15.
- The winner of each group will have their poster design printed professionally on an A3 poster, win a family ticket to see Robin Hood (selected dates) at the Octagon Theatre and meet the cast after the show
- Shortlist of poster entries (top three of each age group) will be announced in The Bolton News, followed by the winner
- The winning designs may be used by the Octagon to promote Robin Hood in the theatre and local area. The artwork may also be used on the Octagon website and via social media channels
