Metro Salvage crushes its one millionth car
A SCRAPYARD A-Team crushed cars for cash at a charity fun day.
Mr T, the Incredible Hulk and former Bolton Wanderers skipper Kevin Davies all turned out to see Metro Salvage scrap its millionth car to boost funds for KiDs of Bolton — a children’s charity set up by the former Whites star.
The Waterloo Street scrapyard put on a packed day of entertainment for youngsters including a £1,000 “Loot in the Boot”, a rodeo bull and karaoke.
Yard manager Alvin Squire also wore his finest Mr T costume for the occasion.
Lyndsay Walker, who has run Metro Salvage for 21 years with husband Terry, said: “It was a brilliant day and all the kids really enjoyed.
“A lot of hard work went into the day and a lot of our staff dressed up for the occasion, such as Mr T and the Incredible Hulk. A lot of local businesses gave generously and the weather held out for when we scrapped our millionth car.”
The star car being scrapped at the event was a silver Fiat Bravo. Kevin Davies, who now plays at Preston North End, brought his children Lucas, aged nine, and Lana, aged eight, along to the event. KiDs of Bolton was set up in 2010 and supports youngsters and organisations in Bolton, often helping them achieve sporting goals.
