THINK casino and the bright lights of Las Vegas and gambling big bucks could spring to mind.
But a Bolton casino is throwing its doors open to beginners and visitors keen to enjoy a fun night out, including more women.
Grosvenor G Casino in Moor Lane, Bolton, offers free learn to play sessions for the most popular games including roulette and blackjack for all levels, from teaching the basics to enhancing the skills of advanced players.
Lauren Gallagher is events consultant at the casino which opened in 2004 and is home to five areas — the slot machines with two free play machines, main gaming area, poker room, bar and restaurant.
She said: “It’s one of the friendliest environments that I’ve ever been in. Everyone’s so nice to each other.
“The customers are great. “It’s not just about gambling, we do live events as well.
“We have an a la carte restaurant that seats 67. We do comedy nights, there’s a lot going on all the time.”
Next month, the casino will play host to a murder mystery night on Thursday, November 28, and a psychic evening on Friday, November 29.
As well as the free Learn to Play sessions, a range of casino experience packages are on offer, ranging from £15 to £30 per person for special occasions, hen and stag parties or Christmas nights out.
Staff at the casino are also on hand to help customers gamble responsibly and advise them to only gamble what they are prepared to lose and set limits on the time and money they spend gambling.
Lauren, who has worked at the casino for three years, said: “We do promote responsible gambling all over the club.
“There are posters everywhere and leaflets everywhere with the messages drink responsibly, gamble responsibly.
“If management are concerned about someone, they will talk to them.
“If people are concerned about their gambling, they can come and talk to the management about it.
“We just want people to have a good time, enjoy themselves, know their limits and gamble responsibly and just have fun at the end of the day.”
