X-Factor singer Christopher Maloney to perform at Mecca Bingo Awards
BOLTON’S favourite people and places will be revealed at a special awards evening tomorrow.
The Mecca Bingo Awards are being held in which winners will be honoured in 10 categories — from local hero of the year to best place to eat, parent of the year and best night out.
Singer Christopher Maloney, who came third on The X Factor last year, will call a game of bingo and perform at the event, at Mecca Bingo in Ormrod Street, Bolton.
William Clarke, membership manager at Mecca Bingo, Bolton and Breightmet, said: “It’s wonderful to see so many people wanting to nominate amazing people and places for an award.
“The judging panel at the club has had a tough job reading some of the truly heart-warming stories that were entered.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming all the nominees to the event.
“It’s going to be a great night celebrating with the winners and being entertained by Christopher Maloney from The X Factor.”
Other award categories include personal achievement award and best place to drink, with the Flying Flute, Bradshawgate, Elephant and Castle, Deansgate, and The Capitol, Churchgate, battling out for the accolade.
In the running to be named best day out are Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park, Go Ape, Rivington, and The Valley Leisure Park, Eagley Brook Way.
Nominated in the employer of the year category are Bolton Steps, which offers support to anyone suffering mental health issues, Holiday Inn Bolton and E.ON.
Places hoping to scoop the best place to eat prize are Olympus Fish and Chip Restaurant, Great Moor Street, Nick's Restaurant, Chorley Old Road, and Cinnamon Fusion Indian Cuisine, Marsden Road.
This is the second time the Mecca Bingo Awards will have been held, in association with The Best of Bolton.
Tickets are available from the club and cost £6 if bought today rising to £12 tomorrow.
