Police officer to stand trial over New Year's Day crash
A POLICE officer will stand trial after he denied driving dangerously prior to a car crash in Walkden.
Serving Greater Manchester Police officer Warren Lewin, aged 30, from Trafford, was responding to an emergency call when the car he was driving crashed.
The marked police car collided with a silver Mercedes private hire taxi in Manchester Road, Walkden, just after 3am on New Year’s Day.
Lewin appeared at Preston Crown Court today, where he denied two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He will stand trial on March 24 next year. The case is expected to last four days.
