A MUM with terminal cancer wowed guests at a special fashion fundraiser by modelling clothes to raise money for a charity which paid for her treatment.

Rowena Darby’s battle with the disease featured in The Bolton News in August, and since then the inspirational mother-of-one has refused to let the cancer stop her from living a full life with her husband Phil and five-year-old son Freddie.

Mrs Darby was offered a free round of Mistletoe for Cancer treatment in July, an alternative to chemotherapy, which is based on the prescribed use of mistletoe extracts.

The inspirational mum helped to raise £350 on the night for the charity along with community group Mums In The Know by modelling in a fashion show at Diva Boutique in Edgworth on Thursday, November 7.

Her handmade bracelets, Roda Handmade, which she sells to fund family trips around the country, were also on sale.

Mrs Darby, aged 33, said: “It was a brilliant evening.

“It was really good fun and a nice, relaxed atmosphere, so intimate.

“Everybody seemed to have a good time.

“We raised £350 for Mistletoe, which is brilliant.

“The charity is really pleased. I want to raise as much money for them as they spent on my treatment, which is about £5,000.

“Next year I’m hoping to do a sponsored run, although nothing has been arranged just yet.”

Those attending had the chance to buy discounted clothing at the store for one night only — and the store donated 10 per cent of their sales from that night to Mistletoe.

Mrs Darby’s friend, Helen Ducker, who works for Mums In The Know, said: “Rowena and I were modelling the clothes. My mum also joined in. I think Rowena really enjoyed herself. It was a really nice setting.”

Rowena’s bracelets can be bought from her website.
