THE USN Bolton Arena has unveiled plans to launch a new hi-tech gym in the New Year after a £400,000 upgrade on their existing facility.

It will become one of the first gyms in the North West to feature ground-breaking new cardio equipment.

A cutting-edge new console will allow users to swipe, scroll and click through a personalised selection of training programmes, data records, web bookmakers, games and entertainment, as well as gym-goers’ favourite social networks. The Technogym ARTIS system is the only console in its field with a webcam, allowing users to make video calls with their trainer or their favourite contacts during their workout.

Arena commercial manager Gwyn Hughes said there would be unlimited free advice and support from the gym’s instructor team and unlimited free 1:1 boxing, kettlebell and programme reviews.

“We believe we are already ahead of the game in terms of the service we offer our members,” he added.

“As a charitable leisure trust we reinvest our surpluses back into providing health and fitness and the refurbishment of the gym is a great example of this. We have listened to our members needs when drawing up the plans and we are confident the improvements will go well beyond their expectations.

“We also hope it will encourage lots more people to come and enjoy exercise.”

The refurbishment will take place from December 16 to 31, but there are no plans to close the gym, except for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Work will be completed by January 2.
