A RARE bird has reportedly flown the nest in Egerton — and has sparked fears it may not survive the cold weather.

An Indian mynah bird, pictured, has been seen in gardens in the northern outskirts of Egerton for the past eight weeks.

The bird may have escaped from a nearby house or an aviary.

A member of the starling family and native to Asia, it is reportedly coping well with current conditions and is feeding well on seeds and apples.

But with temperatures set to plummet over the coming weeks, concerns have been raised for the bird’s welfare.
