POLICE are on the hunt for a man wanted in connection with a gang assault on a clubber in Leigh.

The 22-year-old victim was walking on King Street at around 4.30am Sunday, October 6 when he was approached by a group of men. One of the men went to punch the man but missed.

When the victim retaliated, he was hit on the head with bottle and knocked to the ground.

He was then kicked in the body before the man walked off towards Spinning Jenny Way.

The man was lift with a head injury.

Now police have released the image of a man they would like to talk to.

Detective Constable Richard Willoughby based at Leigh Police Station said: “The man had been on a night out in the town centre and had been in Vogue nightclub prior to the attack.

“We believe the man in the photo, which had been posted on the club’s Facebook page, was with a group of six to eight men at the same club. We also believe there may have been some kind or argument in the club between both parties.

“I would ask anyone who may recognise this man or who may have seen the victim being assaulted, to contact police.”
