GLOBAL sandwich chain Subway will be opening at a Bolton shopping centre on Monday, creating eight jobs.

Three brothers are behind the new franchise of Subway at Crompton Place shopping centre, opposite BHS, which will officially open at 10.30am.

Crompton Place manager, Malcolm Angus, said: “The arrival of Subway is helping us to substantially grow our food offering at Crompton Place, and we are delighted to be welcoming this hugely popular food brand.

“Its arrival is the result of lots of hard work going on behind the scenes to improve the shopping centre for the 4.5 million shoppers who pass through our doors every year.

“Crompton Place is at the heart of Bolton and while people enjoy coming to shop with us, we know it is also important for them to use the centre as a social hub to meet with their family and friends. The new Subway will give them another great place to stop and have something to eat, encouraging our shoppers to spend longer with us which can only be good news for all the businesses within the shopping centre.”

It is the third Subway franchise in Bolton, and fifth shop in five years for Shuaib Ishaq and his two brothers Zubair and Awais who all live in Cheadle Hulme.

Shuaib, who works full time as a pharmacist as well as supporting his brothers who manage the shops on a day to day basis, said: “Across our five stores, we employ 34 people, and six of those will be at the new Crompton Place Subway.

“Opening five stores in five years shows business is going well.

“We chose Bolton because we have many friends who live here and we have always recognised its potential and believe the future is really bright for Bolton, and our new store is hopefully a sign of that.

“Crompton Place is a good choice for us because it is a bright, clean and busy shopping centre in the centre of town with big brand stores which means there is a lot of traffic through the centre.”
