New Subway to open in Crompton Place

The Bolton News: From left Zubair Ishaq, Awais Ishaq and Crompton Place operations manager, Adam Sangster From left Zubair Ishaq, Awais Ishaq and Crompton Place operations manager, Adam Sangster

GLOBAL sandwich chain Subway will be opening at a Bolton shopping centre on Monday, creating eight jobs.

Three brothers are behind the new franchise of Subway at Crompton Place shopping centre, opposite BHS, which will officially open at 10.30am.

Crompton Place manager, Malcolm Angus, said: “The arrival of Subway is helping us to substantially grow our food offering at Crompton Place, and we are delighted to be welcoming this hugely popular food brand.

“Its arrival is the result of lots of hard work going on behind the scenes to improve the shopping centre for the 4.5 million shoppers who pass through our doors every year.

“Crompton Place is at the heart of Bolton and while people enjoy coming to shop with us, we know it is also important for them to use the centre as a social hub to meet with their family and friends. The new Subway will give them another great place to stop and have something to eat, encouraging our shoppers to spend longer with us which can only be good news for all the businesses within the shopping centre.”

It is the third Subway franchise in Bolton, and fifth shop in five years for Shuaib Ishaq and his two brothers Zubair and Awais who all live in Cheadle Hulme.

Shuaib, who works full time as a pharmacist as well as supporting his brothers who manage the shops on a day to day basis, said: “Across our five stores, we employ 34 people, and six of those will be at the new Crompton Place Subway.

“Opening five stores in five years shows business is going well.

“We chose Bolton because we have many friends who live here and we have always recognised its potential and believe the future is really bright for Bolton, and our new store is hopefully a sign of that.

“Crompton Place is a good choice for us because it is a bright, clean and busy shopping centre in the centre of town with big brand stores which means there is a lot of traffic through the centre.”

I have a lot of time from Subway, good luck to em.

I have no time for whoever it was (and don't say it was Primark) who shut off the entrance from Bradshawgate, leading to the crippling of that side of town.
Personally, I've never set foot in Crompton Place since, or in any Primark store since then. and a Subway outlet isn't going to change that.

I understood Bolton Council have been turning down applications by individuals to open food outlets in the town centre.

It's clearly different if the application is made to a private landlord?.
Perhaps a global organisation stands a better chance than an individual with a Council application?.

Wonder full another 8 minimum wage jobs maybe Bolton council should be aiming for jobs in the private sector that pay in the £15-20 ph zone.

The trouble with min wage positions is they don't create great local economies......

Bolton councils retail dream only creates minimum wage jobs and they just don't seem to understand the min wage economic pit falls.

Guess what? ALL animals are killed in a barbaric way. It is nothing new and dates back to the evolution of man and before then!

We supposedly kill humanely by stunning. Guess what the animals still feel the pain of being murdered, having their throats slit, even when stunned, just like a human would!

Would you eat Kosher food?
That seems to be ok but it is the exact same way of preparing food as Halal, yet no one, on here, ever mentions that Kosher meat is wrong!!!

Meat is meat no matter how its got. It doesn't taste any different and an animal has to slaughtered for its meat.

Animals feel pain even when stunned so there is NO difference between humanely murdering animals, halal or kosher preparations!!!

Now where did I leave my pulled pork sandwich?

kosher is also barbaric but subway are selling halal, next time you need cutting open for an operation tell them you don't want stunning/anaesthetic first you'd rather feel the pain (like they did years ago).

Now if you know anything about operations, if you have ever had one - you still feel the pain of the cuts it is just numbed but the pain is still there - and the medical staff know this from the reaction the bodies give and with all the reactions shown on the computer screens!!!

SUBWAY® stores always encourage customer feedback. So following a strong demand from our Muslim customers, SUBWAY® stores in the UK and ROI introduced certified Halal meats in specific stores. When you see the symbol you can be reassured that only Halal meats are served in that SUBWAY® store.

At this time, only a limited number of stores serve Halal meats.

As someone has already stated - it is down to the individual franchise holders as to whether they want to sell kosher/halal meat or not. And if they do then they have to advertise the fact by having signage saying so - therefore you DO have a choice whether you want to buy from them or not.

Plus like someone else has said, I bet you eat curries and over 90% of the meat dishes come with kosher/halal meat, yes even those sold in supermarkets!!

By coincidence have just walked past the spot for the new Subway. Until recently that area looked pretty sad with a cafe which rarely had any patrons. At least the presence of Subway will smarten that section up. I rarely have a Subway sandwich but find them tasty and excellent value for money. The main point in all of this is quite simply the fact these 3 brothers are investing here and creating 8 jobs: good luck you 3.
A respectable business too compared to the recent 300 new jobs created by personal injury lawyers.
