BOLTON Hospice has opened its first furniture shop and is asking for donations of household items.

Hospice staff were joined by chairman Graham Yardley and mascot Cyril the Squirrel at the official ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday.

The outlet, Furniture Plus, is on Morston Point retail park, in Manchester Road, Burnden.

In addition to selling donated furniture, the shop will also be stocked with electrical items, fitness equipment and nursery goods.

Alice Atkinson, fundraising manager at Bolton Hospice, said: “It was a grand opening.

“We’re expanding our retail operation to generate more income for the hospice.

“We’re very grateful to all the people who have donated furniture to us, and we hope Bolton will continue to support us in this venture.”

The hospice is looking for volunteers to work in all areas of the shop. If you are able to give three hours or more a week, call 01204 663063.
