SIX new jobs have been created at a new sandwich shop in the heart of Bolton.

Brothers Shuaib, Zubair and Awais Ishaq have opened the Subway shop in Crompton Place, on the site of the former Deli Fresh sandwich shop, which closed in September.

The shop’s opening is the latest good news for Bolton town centre, following the announcement that the Market Place Shopping Centre has been bought by Moorgarth.

A new £15 million cinema and food outlets are to be opened in the shopping centre.

The new Subway franchise, which is the fifth store for the brothers, was opened by the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Colin Shaw.

Shuaib works full-time as a pharmacist as well as supporting his brothers who manage the shops on a day-to-day basis.

He said: “It’s been fantastic opening the new store at Crompton Place. It’s been a great time to open because it is a busy time of year for shoppers and Crompton Place looks really festive and welcoming with all the decorations.

“It’s a great feeling to be at this point. We have opened five stores now in five years and employ 40 people across the stores, with six new jobs created at Crompton Place. As a region, Greater Manchester and Yorkshire, we hope to have 155 stores open by the end of 2014.”

Malcolm Angus, Crompton Place manager, said: “It is great to have a new Subway opening with us in the middle of the busy festive period.”

Cllr Shaw said: “It is always great to see new businesses opening in Bolton and we are delighted that Subway is opening another franchise in the town.”

Shuaib is married to Sana and has two children, Muizz, aged seven, and Alishba, aged five.

He said: “My family live in the Bolton area and you can sense the town centre is getting back on its feet.”

The brothers’ other Bolton stores are in Newport Street and Derby Street.

They also have franchises in Whalley Range and Chorlton, in Manchester.
