Peter Kay and Paddy McGuinness working on new Max and Paddy special

The Bolton News: Paddy McGuinness in Max and Paddy Paddy McGuinness in Max and Paddy

COMEDIAN Paddy McGuinness has revealed that he and fellow Boltonian Peter Kay are working on a Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere special.

After visiting Mount St Joseph’s School in Farnworth, said: “Me and Peter have written some new material. We’ve got a one-hour Max and Paddy special lined up.”

Paddy added that there was nothing else on the horizon at the moment, saying: “When you’re filming, you’ve got to block 12 months out of your diary for location, editing, and you’ve got to find space on a TV channel.”

Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere originally screened on Channel 4 in November and December 2004.

A new series of Paddy’s Take Me Out is due to begin in January on ITV1.

I was a big fan of Peter Kay and Paddy McGuinness all them years ago with Phoenix Nights and Road to Nowhere and own all the box sets including that Peter Kay thing, but the novelty wore off as they became more mainstream and fit into the celebrity-esque mould like so many others. Nevertheless, I hold both of them in high esteem and reminisce of such fantastic, original material and humor which encapsulated the town where I was born and raised. Playing snooker at St Gregory's where Phoenix Nights was filmed was a surreal experience too.
