A MOTORCYCLIST who was killed in a road accident had posted a poignant message on his Facebook profile on the day his death saying: “Time to go.”

Shaun Taylor, from Adlington, was thrown from his bike after an accident involving a car that was travelling in the opposite direction at about 1.40pm in Clitheroe yesterday afternoon.

The crash happened in Bowland Road when Mr Taylor, also a keen angler, was travelling near Springs Wood towards Sawley.

He was involved in a crash with a Nissan Navara travelling in the opposite direction.

On Tuesday, Mr Taylor wrote a number of messages on his Facebook page, including “Time to go” — although it is unclear as to whether he wrote the post or someone else did.

Friends of Mr Taylor, who was a member of the Adlington Angling Centre, have since paid their respects to the 47-year-old on his Facebook page under the post — one saying: “You knew you were leaving us all at this time. God bless you Shaun.”

Another added: “That's your sense of humour to a tee, this post. How ironic. I'm gutted.”

The driver of the car, who is from Wyre, was uninjured.

Sgt Gareth Hill said: “An investigation is under way but I would appeal to anybody who witnessed this collision or saw the motorcyclist riding his distinctive blue Yamaha YFZ-R1 in the Clitheroe or Bolton by Bowland area prior to the collision to contact police on 101.”
